Red Sunset is considered the sweetest of all American lingonberry varieties. It is a hardy plant, surviving in zones down to 3, and with protection, even in zone 2. It grows up to 8-10 inches tall, making it a compact option for various landscaping uses. Its berries are slightly less astringent compared to cranberries, offering a delightful balance of tartness and sweetness. This cultivar is favored for its high sugar content and versatility in culinary uses, from fresh eating to jams and sauces.

Linnea is noted for its high yield, producing abundant berries that are slightly tarter than those of Red Sunset. Hardy to zone 3, and even zone 2 with adequate protection, Linnea stands taller at approximately 10-12 inches. It is valued not only for its productivity but also for its resilience in colder climates. The berries of Linnea, like those of Red Sunset, are perfect for a range of culinary applications, including baking and preserves.
